St George's University opens application for 5-year medical degree pathway in India

St George's University will provide students of India the opportunity to complete first year of the medical degree at Ramaiah group of institutions.

NEW DELHI: The St George's University (SGU) based in Grenada has been offering a five-year medical degree pathway for the candidates. Aspirants will be able to apply for the September 2023 session on the official website of SGU at sgu.edu/ramaiah. Those candidates who do not even take the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exam or Medical college admission test (MCAT) will be eligible to apply for the course offered by SGU.

A statement from the university said that the degree is being offered in association with the Ramaiah group of institutions, Bangalore. Under the association, medical aspirants from India, who have enrolled for the course, will be able to complete the first year of the course on the premises of Ramaiah group of institutions, the official notification read. A diverse range of clinical rotations will be offered in the course, in the United States (US) or United Kingdom (UK), as stated in the notification.

Associate dean of Ramaiah International Medical school, Shalini Sivanajiah said: "Our association with SGU offers students the opportunity to experience medical education on an international level. We are looking forward to giving students the exposure they need to succeed in their careers as medical professionals anywhere in the world. Moreover, students get to begin their medical education in Bengaluru, in a comfortable setting, and forge enduring bonds with their peers, before moving for the MD4 programme".

SGU medical degree eligibility criteria

Candidates desirous of enrolling into the university will be required to secure a minimum of 80 percent marks in their Class 12 exams. They must also have Physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology and English as their main subjects.

“This pathway will help the students in building a strong foundation that will help them practise medicine with the exposure and confidence they will need to excel at their job”, a student named Adhrit Ranjan said.
