UGC allows 3 more institutes to offer online degree programmes

NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has allowed three more universities to offer online programmes from the academic year 2022-23. The three institutes are Manav Rachna International Institute of Research And Studies, Haryana and GLA University and Amity University, Uttar Pradesh.

As per the approval, the academic session July-August 2022, has been changed to September with the last date of admission as November 15.

The new college autonomy guidelines issued by the UGC states, “universities may offer courses in the Open and Distance Learning mode, with the approval of the commission, provided it satisfies all the conditions laid down under the regulations.”

Manav Rachna International Institute of Research And Studies will be offering five online courses in BA Computer Applications, BBA, BA Arts and Commerce and MA in Commerce.

GLA University has been allowed to offer two programmes, BA in Commerce and Bachelors in Business Administration. On the other hand, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh has got the approval to offer 6 online courses. The programmes to be offered by Amity University include Bachelors in Arts, Commerce and Social work and three other Masters programmes.

Both GLA University and Amity University situated in Uttar Pradesh are private institutes.

“The HEIs shall comply with all the provisions of the regulations and its amendments.The last date for admission will be notified for each academic session and HEIs will upload the admission details within 15 days thereafter,” the UGC notice read.
