NEW DELHI: The UGC has set up a helpline, a students’ grievance redressal portal, created an email address and constituted a task force at UGC to monitor the concerns and queries of students, teachers and institutions.

"The students can lodge in their grievances on the already existing online students grievance redressal portal of University Grants Commission (UGC) at https://www.ugc.ac.in/grievance/student reg.aspx,” said the public notice.

In view of COVID-19 pandemic, the UGC had issued guidelines to universities on academic calendar and examinations.

As per the guidelines, the universities had also been requested to establish COVID-19 cells to handle the queries of students regarding examinations and other academic activities amidst coronavirus lockdown in the country.

Now, the UGC has also set up a dedicated helpline number 011-23236374 and created an email address covid19help.ugc@gmail.com.

The UGC has also constituted a task force at UGC for redressing the grievances of students, teachers and institutions.

In its public notice, the UGC has requested the universities to upload a copy of the “public notice” on their official website and share it with students and teachers via email and other digital means.

The country has been under a pan-India lockdown since March 25 to May 17, to contain coronavirus spread and all educational institutions have been closed till further notice.

Many universities have resumed education online and the UGC has given recommendations to manage the academic calendar and examinations to compensate for loss of learning due to lockdown.
