15 New Kendriya Vidhyalays to be Inaugurated on October 11

NEW DELHI, October 11, 2019- Union HRD Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' will inaugurate 15 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) today, on October 11, 2019, through Video Conferencing from New Delhi. Additionally, the minister will also 'lay foundation stones' of 6 more KVs. The newly constructed KVs that will be inaugurated today are located in 13 states and Union Territories. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) supervises the overall functioning of KVs. According to a KVS’s statement, this is the first time that new buildings in such a large number are being inaugurated by the HRD Minister.

KVS further stated, “More than 22 thousand students will be benefitted with this huge completion of work having an approximate cost investment of 398 crores.”

There are a total of 1,225 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) that cater to the educational requirements of the children of transferable Central Government employees including Defence and Para-Military personnel.

All KVs follow the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus to provide a common programme of education. Currently, a total of 12,92,767 students across India are studying in KVs.
