NEW DELHI: 1M1B (One Million for One Billion), a UN-accredited youth-focused initiative, has announced the second edition of the Sustainability Accelerator 2024, which will be launched and implemented in conjunction with Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited. The programme was officially introduced on February 29 during the Sustainability Policy Roundtable: Empowering Youth for Net Zero.
The Sustainability Accelerator Programme 2024 will be implemented in all schools across India, with a specific emphasis on social welfare and tribal schools. The program's goal is to increase awareness and inspire young people to participate in the battle against climate change. As part of this programme, students will gain skills through action-oriented missions and will create sustainable creative solutions using prototypes and intensive internships in rural areas.
The inaugural edition of the Sustainability Accelerator Programme 2023, launched by 1M1B and ABFRL in April 2023, saw participation from over 6,000 students and 800+ CBSE schools from 28 states and 5 union territories throughout India. The top 20 students received working experience and internships at ABFRL facilities, as well as a 6-day immersion travel to Bengaluru.
This edition of the Sustainability Accelerator 2024 will be implemented at Tribal and Social Welfare schools across the country. Various industry partners will engage the students by offering internships, workplace experience, and project possibilities in the sustainability field.
