Researchers in the fields of chemistry, computer science, life sciences, electronics, communication, and telecommunications are listed in SciRank.

A total of 67 faculty members from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela have been included in the list of the world's top 5 per cent scientists published by SciRank, earning international recognition for the institute's research community.
The annual ranking, published by the Global Institute of Scientometrics, recognises researchers worldwide for their scientific impact and research contributions. The latest edition evaluated more than 10 million active researcher profiles and nearly 50 million scholarly publications globally.
According to the institute, the recognition reflects the strength of NIT Rourkela's research ecosystem and its contributions across the disciplines of engineering, sciences, and humanities.
Congratulating the faculty members, NIT Rourkela Director K. Umamaheshwar Rao said the achievement was a matter of pride for the entire academic community.
“This recognition is a matter of immense pride for the entire NIT Rourkela community. Having 67 of our faculty members featured among the world's top scientists is a testament to their unwavering commitment to research excellence, innovation, and the pursuit of knowledge,” Rao said.
He added that the recognition highlights the institute’s strong research environment, interdisciplinary collaborations, and efforts to address real-world challenges through science and technology.

“I congratulate all the faculty members on this remarkable achievement and am confident that their contributions will continue to advance knowledge and create meaningful societal impact in the years to come,” he said.
The institute said the ranking process is based on field-normalised bibliometric data sourced from OpenAlex, an open research database. Unlike several other rankings, the evaluation does not rely on surveys or editorial panels, making the process more transparent and reducing institutional bias.
