71.67 Percent Candidates Skip SSC SI 2018 Exam for Paper 1; Vacancies Increased by 334

NEW DELHI, MARCH 18: 5,88,169 candidates did not take the SSC SI 2018 exam for Paper 1, conducted from March 12 to 16, 2019. This means that 71.67 percent of the registered candidates decided not to sit for the exam.

As per an official notification by Staff Selection Commission (SSC), 8,20,683 candidates had registered for the exam of which only 2,32,514 (28.33 percent) candidates appeared for the online test.

Apart from this, the authorities have also increased the number of vacancies for SSC SI recruitment. The notice reflects 334 more vacancies than previously announced. Earlier, the Commission had announced 1223 vacancies whereas the total vacancies available now is 1557; which is an increase of 27.3 percent.

SSC had conducted Paper 1 of SSC SI 2018 examination in 11 shifts from March 12 to 16, 2019. The exam was held in 236 exam centres in 97 cities across 31 States of India. The Commission is scheduled to announce the result of Paper 1 on May 25, 2019.

On the basis of the result, candidates will be selected to appear for PET/PST stage. Subject to qualifying PET/PST, candidates will be shortlisted for Paper 2. After Paper 2, SSC will prepare the final result on the basis of aggregate marks secured in Paper 1 and 2. SSC conducts SSC SI exam to recruit candidates for the post of Sub-Inspector in CAPFs, ASI in CISF and SI in Delhi Police.
