The MCQ portal has been launched in line with the newly-launched CA curriculum which emphasises technology-based learning and assessment. According to the new syllabus, the passing requirements for the CA Intermediate and CA Final exams have been altered. Students will be required to attempt 30 percent MCQ-based questions in six papers each at both levels.

The MCQ dashboard is a user-friendly portal and mobile for all students at foundational, intermediate or foundational stage. The dashboard is capable of tracking questions, paper-wise or chapter-wise questions, as well as the performance of a student.

The students will be able to select questions based on a chapter or multiple chapters in a subject, difficulty level and the portal will show an MCQ exam of 20 questions,” said Vishal Doshi, chairman, Board of Studies, ICAI at the launch.

Doshi further added that the BoS faculties will keep uploading new MCQs regularly that will reflect on the students dashboard enabling students to practise rigorously.

The new CA syllabus was launched on July 1 based on which the CA Intermediate and CA Final exams will be conducted in June 2024.

CA students can raise concerns

Speaking at the launch, ICAI president Aniket S. Talati said that the BoS is currently working on measures to help students transition from old to new schemes of education and training.

“The examination credit of individual or group subjects has been deliberated by the exam committee and it will be taken up in the next council meeting. Since the new attempt is in May 2024 and students may want to know what credits will be available to them, we are making sure all information is given to students in a timely manner,” said Talati.

The November 2023 CA examination will be conducted based on the old curriculum. “We are mindful that when a new change is introduced, students will face challenges. The council will be proactive in resolving these challenges. I encourage all students to reach out to BoS to raise their concerns and I assure that the issues will be addressed,” said Talati.

As per the new scheme, students who have cleared their intermediate and articleship period can now get a Business Accounting Associate (BAA) qualification. “I truly believe that a student who has cleared intermediate level, has articleship experience and has done IT training at the institute is extremely well placed to serve the industry,” said Talait at the launch.

There are 8.5 lakh students currently pursuing the course of CA.
