The AICTE has proposed fixing the minimum annual fee for undergraduate engineering courses at Rs 79,000 and the maximum fee up to Rs 1.89 lakh.
The AICTE is revamping the fee structure for BE and BTech courses after a gap of seven years. “An expert committee first recommended an upper limit that the institutes can charge as tuition fee, but there was no lower limit, or minimum fees, until now,” the Indian Express reported.
This comes after the National Medical Commission (NMC) issued an official notice on February 3, stating that it has been decided that the fees for 50 percent seats in private medical colleges and deemed universities should be on par with that of the government medical colleges of a particular state or Union Territory.
