NEW DELHI: The ministry of health and family welfare informed Rajya Sabha today that 79 out of 183 sanctioned teaching posts in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Guwahati are lying vacant.
According to the data shared by the ministry, there are a total of 1,026 posts sanctioned for non-faculty posts, of which only 121 posts are filled. Out of 183 faculty positions, only 79 are filled, ie. 43% vacancies remain vacant.
“The recruitment to various faculty and non-faculty positions in the Institute is done in accordance with the recruitment rules and Central Government and State Government rules as applicable in the case,” Bharati Pravin Pawar, minister of state, health ministry said in a written reply.
In December 2022, the ministry had told the Lok Sabha that 44% of the faculty posts are lying vacant in 18 new AIIMS. AIIMS Rajkot has the lowest number followed by AIIMS Vijaypur and Gorakhpur. AIIMS Guwahati was fourth among the number of faculties recruited compared to the sanctioned number of posts.
