AIIMS joins IITs, IISc, and JNU in QS Rankings 2019

NEW DELHI, MARCH 1: Indian universities have improved their performance in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject 2019. As many as 89 departments of 16 Indian institutions have been ranked by the QS World University Rankings 2019 in various subject categories. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD), and Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) rank among the top 100 universities in the world in Engineering and Technology.
In Arts and Humanities, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has improved 64 places a major improvement since 2018. JNU is ranked in 8 subjects in the QS ranking 2019.
The All India Institute for Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has been ranked for the first time under the life Sciences and Medicine category. The institution features at 338 rank.
Indian Institutions have performed well in the QS Subject Rankings 2019 in each of the five major categories. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD),
Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) rank among the top 100 universities in the world in Engineering and Technology.
“IIT Delhi has shown an improvement in multiple parameters since last year, including in the overall ranking.” tweeted V Ramgopal Rao Director IITD. The institution has been ranked Very high for Research Output. A total of 17 departments of IITD have been ranked by the QS ranking 2019.
Prakash Javdekar, the Union Human Resources Development Minister has also congratulated the institutions. He tweeted, “Our efforts to improve quality of education in #HE Institutions are bearing fruit as 20 Indian Institutions figure in the global top 100 Institutions in the subject wise categories as per #QS @TopUni”
Internationally, MIT ranks No. 1 in 11 subjects in the QS World University Rankings by subject for 2019.
