AMU's proctor appeals peace in campus to protect students and diffuse all acts of violence. Strict action to be taken against violence and bullying.

NEW DELHI: Aligarh University issues an appeal to students to maintain peace in the campus and says that the top priority of the university to protect the academic interest of the students and diffusing all acts of violence. The university previously announced that it will be taking strict action against students found guilty of violence and bullying after a scuffle between the students.
In regards to the recent rise in acts of violence in the university, AMU proctor, Professor Mohd Wasim Ali said: “Since, preventing and defusing acts of violence is the top priority of the university and we understand that physical assaults not only harm the victims, but also negatively impact their physical and psychological health."

"We assure that an effective time bound enquiry to ascertain the facts and circumstances will be taken to investigate the act of violence. The university authorities will follow the procedures that promote safety, and implement security of all students under threat from hooligans,” he added.
Speaking about maintaining peace AMU, Mohsinul Mulk (MM) Hall, Provost, Mohd Ali Jauhar said: “AMU’s tradition tells us that peace is a useful overarching measure of progress and we are proud to have bricks of composite culture in the foundations of our institution. We must always remember that AMU as one of the largest residential universities of the country with a unique composite culture has been producing students who love to learn from each other, imbibe good things from the personality traits of fellow students from varied backgrounds. It is therefore imperative that we don’t belittle the beautiful traditions and culture of the university with minor differences.”
There was a clash between students, the warden and other authorities after a scuffle broke out between students at the badminton court in a residential hall of the university.
