Amity join hands with KIHT to work for Bio Medical Devices

NEW DELHI, DECEMBER 15: Amity University Uttar Pradesh has recently signed an MoU with Kalam Institute of Health Technologies (KIHT) for development and commercialization of Bio Medical Devices at Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone (AMTZ) campus in Vishakhapatnam.

The MoU was signed by Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation and Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Executive Director, KIHT and CEO of AMTZ. The scope of the MoU includes collaborative research and development, clinical trials, Technology transfer and commercialization of Amity Innovations.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. W Selvamurthy said “Amity has always had a mission to work towards helping the society and towards fulfilling this mission. Scientists, researchers and faculty members of Amity Group of Education Institutions, founded by Dr. Ashok. K. Chauhan, have filed more than 1000 patents, and many of them are already in the process of technology transfer and commercialization”.

Dr. Selvamurthy has expressed his hope that the synergy between Amity and KIHT will bring many affordable and accessible frugal healthcare solutions to the society.

Providing affordable and accessible healthcare assumes great importance in India due to the demographic advantage and socio economic profile of the people. India has market worth $ 7 billion for Medical Devices, however, more than 75% of the requirement is met through import.
