Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Renault Nissan collaborate to drive innovation in automotive research

New Delhi: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has signed an agreement with Renault Nissan Technology and Business Centre India (Renault Nissan Tech) to foster collaboration in various domains such as placements, internships, elective courses, joint research projects, establishment of centres of excellence (CoEs) and laboratories.

Renault Nissan managing director Debashis Bimalprakash Neogi was chief guest on the occasion and Renault Nissan Tech senior vice-president Hirotake Harada was the guest of honour. C Parameswaran, principal director, corporate and industry relations, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham; Suresh Kodoor, director, academia-industry partnership, CIR; and Sasangan Ramanathan, dean of school of engineering were also present on the occasion.

Renault Nissan Tech donated a test car to Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham for supporting cutting-edge research initiatives and related fields. The university will also start joint elective courses in depth studies for automotive engineering with Renault Nissan Tech. The institution is also in consideration with the company to launch customised work integrated MTech programmes for industry professions on topics of automotive engineering and thermal and fluids engineering.

Research in alternative fuels

The partnership will foster research initiatives focused on emissions, aiming to understand and mitigate environmental impact, as well as exploring alternative fuels. Additionally, advanced sensors will be utilised for RLD (road-load data) analysis, offering both offline and real-time monitoring of vital vehicle components.

The university will delve into the development of data-driven digital twins, employing modal-based and physics-based approaches to enhance simulation capabilities for specific performance metrics.

Debashis Neogi said, “Industry-academia collaboration is key in fostering talent, skill and research in automotive technology and education. Our agreement with Amrita University is a testimony of this collaboration.”
