Assam UG Admission 2023: 1.49 lakh students take undergraduate admission in Assam government colleges. Classes begins tomorrow.

NEW DELHI: Assam higher education minister Ranoj Pegu on Monday said that around 1.5 lakh students took admission in the government and provincialised colleges and universities in the state through the integrated portal, assamadmission.samarth.ac.in. The first-year classes for the UG students will begin tomorrow, August 1.
A total of 1,49,760 students have been admitted in the colleges in Assam, excluding the colleges under Assam University Silchar, the private and venture colleges, the minister said.
“We will provide the free online admission service to all private colleges, including ventures, from next year. However, other services shall be available from this year itself,” the minister announced.
As per the stream-wise data shared by the minister, a highest number of 1,15,000 students have opted for arts. 13,300 students chose commerce and 20,300 students took admission in science stream.
The number of female students enrolled in colleges are higher than the male students. According to the data shared by the minister, 82,400 female students took admission this year compared to 67,400 male students and three transgender.

Samarth eGov integrated admission portal was launched on June 14 with an aim to enable the universities through a digital framework for planning, management, delivery, and monitoring of services for students, staff, and other stakeholders.
