Boost for women power: DRDO scholarships worth Rs.4.8 lakhs in aerospace and aeronauticals

NEW DELHI, AUGUST 7: To attract more women to the defence sector, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has launched generous scholarships for girl students doing aerospace and aeronautical engineering at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Those who are pursuing aerospace engineering, aeronautical engineering, space engineering, rocketry, avionics and aircraft engineering are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Only students in their first year of undergraduate or postgraduate studies can apply. The selection will be based on the merit in JEE (Main) for undergraduate studies and GATE for postgraduate studies.
There are 20 scholarships worth Rs. 1,20,000 per year for undergraduate studies and 10 for postgraduate studies worth Rs. 1,80,000 per year.
The selected students will also get an opportunity to work in the aircraft engineering and rocket engineering projects of DRDO or in similar DRDO-funded projects as part of their final year project work.
Students pursuing a dual degree course or integrated Master's degree in the relevant subjects are also eligible to avail of this scholarship. More details are given in the table below.

Candidates should be in possession of essential qualifications and should have JEE (Main) and GATE valid score” for B.Tech and M.Tech respectively.
Selection Process

First-year undergraduate (B.E./B.Tech./BSc. Engg.) scholarship (for 4-year full-time course) will be based on the merit of JEE (Main).

First-year postgraduate (M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc. Engg.) scholarship (for 2-year full-time course) will be based on the valid GATE score on merit basis.
