NEW DELHI, DECEMBER 8: The CAT 2018 answer key has been declared on December 7, 2018. Candidates who find discrepancy in the answers can file objections against the answer key till Monday, December 10, 2018, 5 pm. For each objection, a fee of Rs. 1200 has to be paid. Last year, the objection filing fee was Rs. 1000, which has been increased by Rs. 200 this year. Test takers have to tally the question IDs with that in their Response Sheet before filing for objections.

Before candidates proceed to file objections, they must keep in mind the following points:

  • The candidates have to keep the Question ID ready from the Candidate Response Tab

  • Only one answer objection can be filed at a time

  • Objection once submitted cannot be changed later

  • Response of the CAT expert panel will be treated as final against the objections raised. In case this process leads to any change in the evaluation mechanism, the decision taken by the concerned authority will be final.

How to file objections against CAT 2018 Answer Key?

In order to file for objections, candidates have to follow the instructions given below:

  • Click here to login to your CAT 2018 account

  • Log in by entering your CAT 2018 login ID and Password

  • Click on the Objection Form tab

  • Fill up the fields in the Objection Form such as Section Name (Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability), Question Number (Question ID), Nature of Objection (None of the options is a correct answer, More than one option is a correct answer, Answer key is incorrect)

  • Add Remarks

  • Upload supporting document in .jpg/jpeg/png/PDF format (Optional)

  • All the fields marked with * symbol is mandatory to fill

  • Pay Rs. 1200 through Credit/Debit Card, Netbanking or wallets

     

Prof. Sumanta Basu, CAT 2018 Convenor says, "The option to upload supporting document is provided so that candidates may showcase the reference document from credible sources to substantiate their claim." The final decision regarding CAT 2018 objection will be announced by IIM Calcutta before the result is declared in the second week of January 2019.

As per the marking scheme, each question carries three marks and each wrong question leads to the deduction of one mark. There is no negative marking scheme for the non-MCQs or TITA (Type in the Answer) questions.

IIM Calcutta had released the Candidate Response Sheet on November 30, 2018. As many as 2,09,405 candidates had appeared for CAT 2018 out of the total applications of 2.41 lakh.
