CAT 2018 Dress Code- What or what not to wear on the exam day

NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 24: Country’s most coveted MBA entrance exam, Common Admission Test (CAT) is here. IIM Calcutta will conduct the test on November 25 in two-shifts. Apart from the admit card and a photo identity proof which are must in order to appear for the test, you also need to keep in the mind the dress code of CAT 2018. A few guidelines related to the dress code have been released and if you are appearing for the test, must know about it. Check all the details related to the CAT dress code including what you should wear and what you should avoid wearing.

CAT Dress code - What to Avoid

Accessories - Both female and male candidates are suggested not to wear any kind of accessories like wristwatches, earrings, wristbands, any metal object, etc.

Marks - You should not be having any kind of unnatural marks (tattoo, mehndi, colours, etc.) on your fingers/thumb as there would be a biometric process before the exam where your thumb impression will be taken.

Make-up - Female candidates should avoid wearing make-up on the exam day and are advised to keep a natural look. Instead of making puffy hairstyles, get a simple ponytail or braid. Male candidates are advised to keep the look same as the one in the photograph they uploaded at the time of registration. It will make the screening process easier for them.

Gadgets - Any kind of electronic gadget including mobile phones, calculator, electronic watches, etc. are not allowed inside the exam hall. As it’s a computer-based test, any kind of stationery items or bags will not be allowed as well.

CAT Dress code - What to Wear

For Boys - Male candidates are advised to dress as simple as they can so that there is no extra checking at the time of entering the exam centre. Here are some suggestions -

  • Round-neck T-shirts with no pocket
  • Plain jeans or trousers
  • Choose sleepers not shoes (footwear/closed footwear are not allowed inside the exam hall)

For Girls - Female candidates are advised to avoid wearing any kind of jewellery or metals as they are not allowed inside the exam centre. Here are some suggestions -

  • Plain T-shirts or tops with no pocket
  • Lowers or pyjamas (avoid the one with too many pockets)
  • Again, wearing slippers is a good idea as shoes are not allowed inside the CAT exam centre

Note: Socks are allowed inside the exam hall.

CAT 2018 will be conducted on November 25 in two slots - Morning (9 AM - 12 PM) and Afternoon (2:30 PM to 5:30 PM). The reporting time for the morning slot is 7:30 AM and 1 PM for the afternoon slot.
