CAT 2018 Result – 11 male candidates from engineering background secure 100 percentile

NEW DELHI, JANUARY 5: IIM Calcutta has declared the CAT 2018 result on January 5, 2019. According to the exam authorities, as many as 11 candidates have secured 100 percentile. All 11 toppers are male, belonging to engineering or technology background. As many as seven candidates belong to IITs and two are from Jadavpur University.

Maximum toppers from Maharashtra

In terms of the geographical background, as many as seven candidates are from Maharashtra, two from West Bengal and one each from Karnataka and Bihar. As many as 21 candidates have secured 99.99 percentile, out of which 19 are from engineering background.

Number of 100 percentilers reduce from last year

Last year, a total of 20 CAT 2017 takers had secured 100 percentile, of which two were female candidates and three were from non-engineering background. Out of 2,40,338 applicants, as many as 2,09,405 candidates had appeared for the test. In terms of gender-wise distribution of the test takers, the number of male, female and transgender candidates was 1,36,075, 73,326 and four respectively.

CAT 2018 was held on November 25, 2018, in 374 cities across India. This year, IIM Calcutta had conducted the test and Prof. Sumanta Basu was the Convenor.

IIMs have started announcing the shortlist for the final rounds of selection process based on the CAT 2018 cutoff. So far, IIM Calcutta has released the shortlist with 1990 candidates of which 43 per cent are female. One transgender candidate is also included within the shortlist.
