NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 25: IIM Calcutta, the examination conducting body of CAT has successfully administered the forenoon session of CAT 2018 on November 25. The first slot began at 9:00 am and ended at 12:00 noon. The overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate. Quantitative Ability section was easy for most of the candidates but for some, this section was tough. On the other hand, some test takers found the Verbal Ability section difficult. Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) difficulty level was moderate.
One of the test takers of CAT 2018 slot 1, Dhanu shares, "The overall paper was good but the Verbal Ability section was difficult. The Quantitative section was easy." Another candidate Rajlakshmi says, "This was my second attempt and I found Quant section easy whereas the overall paper was ok for me."
According to the exam pattern of CAT 2018, CAT 2018 is a computer-based online test carrying 100 multiple choice questions. The test paper is divided into three sections such as Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA). The time allotted to complete the exam is 180 minutes that is 3 hours. The time allotted for each section is 60 minutes. The marking scheme of CAT 2018 includes negative marking. Each correct answer will be given 3 marks and -1 will be deducted for the wrong answer.
The test is conducted in 374 test centres across 147 cities. The second slot will begin at 2:30 pm and will end at 5:30 pm. Around 2.4 lakh candidates are appearing for CAT this year.
