NEW DELHI - Clearing the air about the Common Admission Test, Prof. Ram Mohan, Incoming Chairperson - Admissions, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, stated that as of now there will be no change in the way CAT 2020 exam will be conducted. He, however, added “ CAT Core Group will make decisions based on how the COVID-19 situation develops.”

Exam Pattern of CAT 2020

If the entrance exam is being conducted as per last year, then the candidates will have to appear in the computer-based test wherein they will have to answer 100 questions. There will be three sections from which questions will be asked and candidates will be given 60 minutes to answer them. The three sections are:

  • Quantitative Ability

  • Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning

  • Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension

Future of Home Proctored Exam

Due to Covid 19, few of the management entrance exams like the Management Aptitude Test, ATMA etc were conducted through remote proctoring. On being asked about the advantages and disadvantages of home proctored exam, Prof. Shailesh Gandhi, Dean - Programmes, IIMA, said "IIMA is exploring technology options for proctored examinations including the advantages and disadvantages."

About CAT 2020

Every year the IIMs conduct the CAT exam on a rotational basis. This year Indian Institute of Management, Indore is conducting IIM for CAT 2020. Candidates who qualify the CAT entrance test and if they meet the requisite cutoff of the IIM to which they have applied, then they have to take part in the selection process which comprises group discussion, written ability test and interview.
