CAT 2021: IIM Ahmedabad likely to release notification tomorrow; What to expect

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, the conducting body of CAT is expected to release the official CAT notification 2021 tomorrow, July 31. CAT exam notification is an advertisement in which the IIM will release all the important CAT 2021 details regarding CAT 2021 exam date and other important dates, CAT application form release date fee, registration fee, number of test slots, number of test centres, and CAT exam pattern etc.

IIM Ahmedabad is conducting the Common Admission Test (CAT) this year after a gap of 6 years; it conducted the last CAT exam in 2015. CAT is held every year for admission to MBA/PGDM/PGPM/Executive MBA and other management programmes offered by 20 IIMs and over 1000+ management institutes of India. CAT registrations are likely to start in the first week of August. Every year, about two lakh candidates apply for CAT.

• Official CAT notification will release the most awaited CAT exam pattern details that will help the candidates in steering their preparation in the right direction

• CAT exam notification will have the CAT eligibility details.

• IIM CAT 2021 notification will list the 20 IIMs and programmes offered by them.

• The notification of CAT will mention the reservation policy, if applicable.

• The amount and mode of the application fee will be mentioned in the CAT notification. Candidates can pay the CAT registration fee through online payment modes only, which include credit cards, debit cards and net banking.

• Information on IIM admission process will also be there in the CAT notification 2021 to apprise the candidates about the admission details.

Major changes in previous year’s CAT exam

• CAT application fee was increased to Rs 2,000 from Rs 1,900 for general category candidates and from Rs 950 to Rs 1,000 for SC/ ST candidates.

• The duration of CAT exam was reduced to 120 minutes from 180 minutes, hence giving candidates 40 minutes as the sectional time limit.

• The CAT testing slots were increased to three as compared to previous years where the test was conducted in two slots. This was due to the covid-19 pandemic situation and to ensure the safety of all stakeholders.

About CAT 2021

CAT 2021 question paper will have questions from three sections namely Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation, Quantitative Ability. The duration of the exam could be either two or three hours. CAT is an important entrance exam for admission to MBA/ PGDM programmes in all the 20 IIMs, FMS Delhi, SPJIMR Mumbai, MDI Gurgaon, IMI New Delhi, IMT Ghaziabad, JBIMS Mumbai, TAPMI Manipal, and other hundreds of highly ranked MBA college in India.
