NEW DELHI, August 19: As per reports, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia announced that students of Delhi Government and aided schools have no need to pay any exam fee for CBSE 10th and 12th. This was decided by Delhi Government to release students’ burden of fee hike by CBSE.
Sisodia told PTI, "Students in Delhi Government and aided schools will not have to pay any fees for CBSE Class 10, 12 exams. Delhi government will bear the entire cost for all categories of students, modalities being worked out".
He further added, "Delhi government is in process of discussing with CBSE to roll back the fee hike. Irrespective of what happens, no child will have to bear the burden of registration fees as the government will bear that."
Earlier, CBSE revised the examination fee of Class 10 and 12 exams. As a result, the General category and SC/ST students were about to pay Rs. 1500 and Rs. 1200 respectively. Whereas, earlier, it was Rs. 750 and Rs. 375 for General and SC/ST students. While SC/ST students of Delhi Government schools were paying only Rs. 50 only as the rest amount was reimbursed to students as Subsidy. So exam fee hike was a very big burden for students and the Delhi Government was in discussion with CBSE to roll it back. Finally, students have exempted from paying the exam fee.
