NEW DELHI: CBSE has decided to make some changes in the exam pattern of Class 9 to 12 exams for the academic session 2021-22. It is expected that students will find more competency based questions, unfamiliar situations or questions that assess application of concepts in real life situations will be the part of final exam of Class 9 to 12, reported by NDTV.

In the CBSE exam pattern for class 9 and 10, CBSE decides to introduce a minimum of 30% of competency based questions like case-based questions, source base integrated questions, etc. in the form of MCQs. After that, 20% questions will be objective type and the remaining fifty percent will be short and long answer questions, the report added.

The report further added, in the CBSE exam pattern for class 11 and 12, there will be twenty percent competency based questions and twenty percent objective based questions. The remaining sixty percent will consist of short and long answer questions, as per existing pattern.

Adding to this, the overall marks and duration of examination will remain unchanged. Students can check the sample papers and syllabus released by CBSE in March 2021. This will help them understand the design of the CBSE exam pattern 2021-22.

The National Education Policy (NEP) has decided to make these changes to equip students with the ability to solve problems. This will develop higher-order skills such as analysis, critical thinking, and conceptual clarity, rather than testing their ability to memorise, the report said.
