NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has urged the Delhi Police to register a First Information Report (FIR) and take action against BBS Public School, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh for submitting a fake ‘No Objection Certificate’ for affiliation to the board.

In a complaint letter to the deputy commissioner of police, CBSE informed that the NOC submitted by the school claimed to be issued by the director of education Shashi Kant Shukla, however, the Prayagraj office denied so and said that no one with this name was working in the office. After noticing the difference in format, the board sent the NOC to the education department in Prayagraj for verification, and found the certificate to be fake.

Explaining the issue, the board said that the school submitted an online application on May 21, 2023 for fresh affiliation up to secondary level. In support of its application, the document submitted by the school included an NOC issued on April 8, 2022 by Shashi Kant Shukla, director of education, Prayagraj.

“As the NOC was different from the format, this document was sent to the Joint Director of Education, Prayagraj Division, through the CBSE’s regional office Prayagraj to verify its genuineness,” CBSE stated.

On March 9, 2024, the office of the education director informed that the NOC which has the signature of Shashi Kant Shukla has not been issued by their office. “It is also informed that, on the said date there was no one named Shashi Kant Shukla, joint director of education, Prayagraj, working in the office of joint director of education, Prayagraj board,” the central board added.

CBSE said that the act of school is serious and liable to punishment for submitting a fake document and requested the DCP to register FIR and take action against the defaulters. As per the board, the affiliation bye-laws make it mandatory for a school to submit the NOC showing that the state government has no objection to its affiliation with the board.
