GATE 2021 seat allotment - Merit List

The authorities have prepared seat allotment results based on marks in the GATE exam. In case two or more candidates secured the same GATE score, then the following criteria have been used to resolve and determine inter-se-merit of candidates.

  • Candidates having GATE score in 2019 are given preference over candidates having score of 2020, or 2021.

  • Candidates having GATE score in 2020 are given preference over candidates having score of 2021.

  • If the year of GATE score is same, then preference is given to that candidate who has obtained better GATE marks out of 100.

  • In the unlikely event of their year of GATE score and GATE marks out of 100 being the same, preference is given based on the All India Rank (AIR).

  • In the highly unlikely event of candidates having the same year of GATE score, GATE marks out of 100, and AIR, the date of birth will be considered. Candidates senior in gae are given preference.

  • Finally, candidates having the same year of GATE score, GATE marks out of 100, AIR, and date of birth then rank is decided on the basis of random number generation. A candidate with lower random numbers generated will be given preference.
