CDS 2020 Exam Tomorrow: Check CDS 1 Preparation Tips

NEW DELHI,February 1: Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination will be held tomorrow, February 02, 2020 at examination centres in 41 cities across the country. Around 3 lakh candidates have applied for the exam. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has notified that 418 vacancies will be filled through this recruitment exam. Selection in CDS examination inducts candidates into the elite services of Indian army, navy and airforce. Candidates can check last minute preparation tips for CDS 2020 in this article.

The candidate must know the exam pattern. The written exam of CDS comprises three sections - English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics. There will be 120 questions each for English and GK and 100 questions in Mathematics. You will get 2 hours for the exam on each subject.

  • Formulate a strategy to attempt the question paper. You may attempt questions from your stronger areas first. It will boost your confidence and also you will score more in areas you know best.

  • Maintain your accuracy to avoid negative marking.

  • Time management is very important. Do not get emotional about a question. Leave it if you are not able to solve it quickly. The candidate must not leave the easier questions that they could attempt because of lack of time.

  • Reach the exam hall at least 30 minutes before the start of the exam.

  • Don’t forget to carry a print-out of CDS admit card along with valid ID proof like Aadhar, Passport, voter card etc.

  • In case your photograph is not visible or available on the e-Admit Card, you should carry three (3) identical photographs (one photo for each session) along with the printout of e-Admit Card to the exam centre.

  • Take a black Ball Point Pen to the exam centre for use during the exam. Make sure it works properly. You have to mark your answers on the OMR sheet with the black ball-point.

  • Keep marking your answers on OMR sheet alongside and do not leave a lot of questions to mark in the end.

  • Understand the question before answering. Read the question twice, if you need to.

  • Sleep properly and on time the night before the exam day.

  • Be positive and confident. Give it your best.

CDS exam is conducted by UPSC twice a year for selection of candidates for admission to Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian National Army (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA) and Officer Training Academy (OTA). After the declaration of results, candidates will be called for SSB interview followed by a medical examination.
