CU Haryana creates roadmap to implement NEP 2020, blended learning

NEW DELHI: The Central University of Haryana has prepared a roadmap for the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in a phased manner. The university also plans to adopt a blended-learning mode, combining online and offline instruction, once the regulator, University Grants Commission (UGC) and the education ministry give a go-ahead for it.

During a recent meeting of CUH Vice-Chancellor, RC Kuhad, with deans and heads of department to review the status of curricular reforms carried out by the academic departments, the official agreed upon implementing the NEP from the upcoming academic session.

There is also a general consensus on the adoption of blended learning, recently proposed by the UGC which will allow 40% of the course component to be taught online for each programme. A CUH official said: “We are ready, as soon as we get the approval of the UGC and ministry we will start teaching in blended mode.”

NEP: Uniform template

The deans and department heads agreed upon adopting a uniform template for the revised curriculum of undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) courses.

The university has also decided on developing the NEP-based curriculum according to the uniform template featuring background, programme outcomes, programme specific outcomes, postgraduate attributes, the structure of masters course, learning outcome index, semester-wise courses and credit distribution, course-level learning outcomes, teaching-learning process, blended learning, assessment and evaluation.

The CUH will organise discussions at the department, school and university levels before submitting the template for the approval of statutory bodies. According to Kuhad, devising a uniform template for curriculum development shall help the departments structure the curriculum in a standard format which includes the salient features of the NEP 2020 and UGC’s quality mandate.

BTech, vocational training

In the case of UG programmes in engineering and vocational studies, it has been decided that the departments shall incorporate pertinent NEP recommendations while complying with the directives of regulatory bodies for these programmes including All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), National Board of Accreditation (NBA), National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), International Standard Classification of Occupations, Sector Skill Council.
