CUET will be held twice from next year: Report

NEW DELHI: The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) exam will be held twice a year from 2023, and the question paper pattern will change every year although the syllabus will remain the same as in Class 12, education ministry officials told the Times of India.

According to the officials of the National Testing Agency (NTA), the CUET 2022 exam deadline for submitting the application form will be extended. They also said that CUET 2022 for postgraduate admissions are also to be announced next week, reported TOI.

More than 2 lakh candidates have registered for CUET 2022 so far. Among these, the most applicants are from Uttar Pradesh, followed by Delhi and Bihar. As per the data shared by the ministry of education, there were as many as 36, 611 applications from the state of Uttar Pradesh, 23,418 from Delhi and 12,275 from Bihar. As many as 2,143 applications came from Tamil Nadu, 3,987 from Kerala, 1,807 from Telangana, 1,022 from Andhra Pradesh, and 901 from Karnataka.

"From next year, as envisioned in the National Education Policy 2020, the university entrance test will be conducted twice. The final details will be shared by the NTA later. This will give candidates another opportunity to improve their scores in case they are not satisfied with the marks in the first exam, just like JEE main," a senior official reportedly said.

The CUET 2022 exam for UG admission is expected to be conducted between the last week of May and the first week of of Jnue to be followed by the first or second week of July.
