Day 2 of GATE 2020 commences; know previous day analysis

New Delhi: IIT Delhi has commenced the second day of the GATE 2020. The exam is being conducted as a computer-based examination in two shifts today i.e., February 2. The first shift will be conducted from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm for AR, BM, BT, CH, MA, MN, ST, XE, XL papers. The second shift will be conducted from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm for AE, AG, EC, GG papers.

Candidates are required to carry the GATE 2020 admit card along with an original ID proof to the exam centres. Also, candidates cannot carry any electronic gadget like mobiles, calculator to the centres. However, a virtual scientific calculator will be available for the candidates during the exam. All the candidates are required to reach the exam centres at least 1 hour before the commencement of exam. Similar to Day 1 of the examination, no latecomers will be allowed to appear for the exam.

The first day of GATE 2020 concluded on February 1 where the first shift was conducted for IN, ME1, MT, PE, PH papers while the second shift was conducted for CY, ME2, PI papers. According to the candidates who appeared for the exam the paper was moderate in difficulty level.

ME1- According to the reviews from the students, ME1 paper which was conducted in the forenoon session of February 1 was moderate in difficulty level. However, most of the students said that the paper was tougher than the last three years. Many students found the paper to be lengthy. Mathematics and Aptitude sections were easy.

IN- The paper was moderate in difficulty level. The questions from the core subject were a bit tough but other topics were moderate in difficulty level. Mathematics and Aptitude were easy to moderate in difficulty level. Topics asked included 3 Phase, Mess analysis, Diode, DTFT, Tolerance, Q-meter, etc.

ME2- The paper was conducted in the afternoon session on February 1. The paper was moderate in difficulty level. The questions from General Aptitude were also moderate in nature.

PI- GATE Paper for Production Engineering (PI) was moderate in difficulty level. Some of the topics asked were Miller Cutter, Welding, Veam, Tension of Shaft, Micrometer, Boring operation, Taylor's tool life, LPP equation two variable, Carnot Engine, CNC Coding, etc. The Aptitude section was also easy in nature.

GATE 2020 paper for the rest of the 6 disciplines- EE, EY, TF, CS, CE1, CE2 will be conducted in two shifts on February 8 and 9 as per the schedule. GATE 2020 is being conducted at examination centres spread across 193 Indian cities and 6 cities outside India.
