Dharmendra Pradhan visits schools, higher education, skilling institutions in Australia

Pradhan said that India is going to establish the Gati Shakti University to develop skilled professionals to support different sector.

NEW DELHI: Dharmendra Pradhan, Union education minister, Government of India, visited Sydney's schools, higher education and skilling institutions today, August 22, during a four-day visit to Australia to strengthen bilateral relations in education, research, and skilling.

To get an insight on school excellence frameworks and best practices in childhood education, Pradhan visited a Homebush West Public School in the New South Wales state in Australia and interacted with the students and teachers at the school. Pradhan spoke about the importance of affordable, accessible and universal early education for children and said that the best practices can be provided in schools in India.

Pradhan also visited Institute of Applied Technology at TAFE NSF. He said that India is going to establish the Gati Shakti University to develop skilled professionals to support different sector. He suggested collaboration between Gati Shakti University and Institute of Applied Technology for developing industry-centric programmes, closing skills gap, up-skilling, re-skilling, and developing innovative digital resources among others.

Pradhan also met the vice-chancellors and senior representatives of the education department of the Australian government, and interacted with them during an event organised by the Universities Australia on Transforming our Future through institutional collaboration at UNSW, Sydney.
