Delhi University has around 90 affiliated colleges and admission to them is massively competitive. Till 2020, admission was based only on applicants’ Class 12 board exam scores and whether they met the cut-offs set. The colleges, in turn, decided on cut-offs based on the scores of the applicants and the number of seats they had. Until the second wave of COVID-19 forced the shutting down of universities and colleges again, 2021 was promising to be different.
In February, Delhi University announced that it will admit students on the basis of a combination of CUCET score and Class 12 marks. The Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) has been the main route for admission to many central universities. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 proposes expanding its scope to cover all 41 central universities, including DU.
However, the proposal is yet to be greenlit by the ministry of education and CUCET is yet to be announced for this session. Until if is finalised, students can gauge their chances of securing a seat in one of the top DU colleges by studying their cut-offs for last year.
Given below are the cut-offs set by some of DU’s top colleges for the first round of BSc admissions last year. Where seats went vacant, the college issued a fresh list lowering the cut-offs required. There are typically over five lists and rounds of admission before the intake process is closed for the year at Delhi University.
