NEW DELHI: The National Board of Examination (NBE) has released the information brochure of the Foreign Medical Graduate Exam- FMGE 2020 along with other important dates on July 7. The information brochure for FMGE 2020 has been released with three major changes which are mentioned in detail below.

As per the notification, the application form will be available from July 8, 2020, and aspirants will be able to fill the application form till July 22. The entrance examination for FMGE 2020 will be conducted on August 31 to provide eligibility for issuing a provisional or permanent registration from the Medical Council of India (MCI) or State Medical Council (SMC) to an Indian citizen or Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs).

Major Changes in FMGE 2020 June session
The three major changes in the FMGE information brochure are as follows:

  • Hike in FMGE 2020 application fee- The authority has increased the FMGE application fee 2020. As many as Rs. 990 must be paid as GST of 18%, while the examination fee is Rs. 5,500, which makes a total of Rs. 6,490. In the earlier session, the registration fee was Rs. 5,500.
  • Increase in exam centres- 17 cities have been added for FMGE 2020 exam June session, which includes Ajmer, Aligarh, Ernakulam, Gandhinagar, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Jodhpur, Kollam, Kottayam, Madurai, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Patiala, Roorkee, Sikar, Thrissur, and Tiruchirapalli. The new city Jodhpur has replaced Jaipur city for this year. Adding the mentioned exam centres, the exam will now be conducted in a total of 42 cities across the country.
  • Special exam day guidelines for COVID-19- In order to take collective safety measures, the authority has released the FMGE exam day instructions which must be strictly followed by every candidate.

Who are eligible for FMGE 2020?
Aspirants considered as an Indian citizen or OCI can appear for the exam. However, such aspirants must possess a primary medical qualification recognised by the Indian Embassy concerned. The medical qualification must be issued by a recognised institution of the respective country. The proof/relevant documents in support of an applicant passing the undergraduate medical education should be submitted to the authority on or before May 31, 2020.

Candidates whose applications will be accepted by the authority can appear for the FMGE exam. Please note that it is mandatory to download and carry the admit card at the allotted exam centre along with the ID proof(s) for verification purpose.
