Former NALSAR VC Faizan Mustafa appointed CNLU vice-chancellor

Previously AMU dean and registrar, the professor has been appointed as the new VC of Chanakya National Law University, Patna.

NEW DELHI: Professor Faizan Mustafa has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of Chanakya National Law University. Professor Mustafa was the dean and registrar of the Aligarh Muslim University before his appointment at CNLU. He previously served as the VC of National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), Hyderabad. Mustafa has replaced Mridula Mishra as the new VC.

The professor also served as the founding vice-chancellor of National Law University (NLU) Odisha. He pursued BA (Honours) in History and BA LLB from AMU. Later, he received an LLM degree in criminal law and a PhD degree in copyright law from the same university. He has been a gold medalist in the LLM course. Moreover, he also did a diploma in international and comparative human rights law from the International Institute of Human Rights.

Professor Mustafa has also served as the director of Kalinga Institute of Information Technology (KIIT) school of law and a visiting faculty at the Kautilya School of Public Policy. He has written several books and published national and international research papers.

Faizan Mustafa has won Shah Waliullah International Award of Institute of Objective Studies, New Delhi for his paper on ‘Constitutionalism in Islamic Perspective’. He was also conferred with the SAARC’s Best Law Teacher Award in 2014.
