IIT Guwahati extends GATE 2026 registration last date with late fee till October 13

Check NowThe Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has extended the last date to register for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 with a late fee till October 13. This is another opportunity for the aspirants who could not apply for the exam so far. GATE 2026 application form is available on the GOAPS portal, goaps.iitg.ac.in.

Since the GATE registration 2026 is now available with a late fee, applicants will be required to pay an increased amount in comparison to the regular fee. Female, SC, ST, PwD candidates have to deposit Rs 1,500 instead of Rs 1,000 while all other candidates including the foreign nationals need to make payment of Rs 2,500 instead of Rs 2,000 during this extended period.
Earlier, GATE 2026 registration last date was October 9. The extension has been apparently given in view of the requests from aspirants.

Meanwhile, IITG has asked registered candidates to visit the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for application related queries. Recently, IITG said that GATE 2026 schedule will not clash with the Union Public Service Commission Engineering Services Examination (UPSC ESE) 2026 which is scheduled for February 8.
GATE 2026 Registration: What to keep in mind
Here are a few things to keep in mind while registering for the entrance exam:
- Candidates will be required to pay a higher amount than the requisite fee during the regular registration period.
- Read all the two-paper combinations carefully before submitting the subject choices. A new sectional paper on energy science has been added under Engineering Sciences (XE) subject.
- Check the list of zone-wise exam cities before selecting the test city to ensure the nearest or the most suitable examination centre.
