NEW DELHI: All schools in Ghaziabad district will be closed for students up to Class 8 till December 30 amid the forecast of heavy rainfall in the region, reported TOI. The district administration has directed that classes for students from 9 and above grade will commence after 9 am during this period to reduce risks associated with adverse weather conditions.
The directive has been issued for all schools affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, and state boards. The rain began late Thursday around 2:50 am and continued throughout the day.
The schools in Delhi-NCR areas of Gurgaon and Faridabad will observe winter vacation for 15 days from January 1 onwards. The schools will reopen from January 16 onwards.
The Directorate of Education in its circular mentioned, "Winter holidays are declared in all the schools of the state from January 1 to 15, 2025. Schools will be reopened as usual from 16 January 2025.”
Meanwhile, the winter vacation dates for Noida schools are yet to be announced. The schools in Noida are likely to be closed from January 1 to 15 like previous year.

Other states that announced wither vacation
The Haryana education department has announced winter vacation in schools from January 1 to January 15, 2025, the government informed via social media. The schools will reopen for physical classes from January 16, 2025.
Recently, the Rajasthan government announced winter break for schools starting from December 25. The decision has been taken in the light of cold waves in the state. Rajasthan education minister Madan Dilawar made the announcement on social media.
"According to the warning issued by the Meteorological Department of Rajasthan state, there is a possibility of a significant increase in the intensity of cold wave in the state from December 24. Keeping this situation in mind, the Education Department of the State Government has decided according to the Academic Almanac that this year's winter vacation will be from December 25 to January 5," the minister said on X.

Recently, the union territories of Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir also announced winter breaks for all government and private schools.
Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir governments have also decided to close schools for winter vacation. While J-K schools will remain closed up till February 28, 2025, the schools in the national capital will remain closed from January 1 to 15.
