NEW DELHI: A widely-circulated letter allegedly issued by the 'Ministry of Health' dated June 27, 2020 on online counselling for postgraduate seat allotment in medical colleges, has been declared as fake by the Press Information Bureau's fact check unit.

“The letter is fake. No such letter has been issued by Ministry of Health,” stated the verified Twitter account of PIB fact check unit.

The letter, ostensibly from the health secretary, Preety Sudan, was addressed to the chief secretaries of all states.

The fake letter said: “The Directorates-General of Health Services, Government of India, New Delhi has been entrusted with the responsibility to conduct online counselling for allotment of Post Graduate (MD/MS/Diploma and MDS) seats to eligible and qualified candidates as per the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India”.
