NEW DELHI: Himachal Pradesh education minister Rohit Thakur announced that the HP Board of School Education, HPBOSE Dharamshala, will now issue passing certificates to the students who will clear Class 10 and 12 board exam 2023.

Calling it a significant move, the minister said it aims to address the challenges being faced by students from remote areas who had to visit the board's office in Dharamshala for the crucial certificates.

“The HPBOSE has only been issuing mark sheets and migration certificates to the students passing the Class 10 and 12 board examinations. Other educational boards, including the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), also issue passing certificates,” Thakur said.

“This disparity leads to inconvenience, particularly for those seeking employment outside the state, as they had to approach the board's office in person to obtain this essential document,” he added.

Emphasising the importance of this decision in streamlining the process to facilitate the students, the education minister said this will not only simplify the certification process but would enhance the prospects of students pursuing higher education.

This year, 1,02,928 students appeared for Class 12 HPBOSE examination, 0f which 79.74% cleared the examination. In the term two of Class 10 HPBOSE examination 2023, 89.97% cleared the exams.

Last month, chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had given his nod to reinstate the annual assessment system for students of Classes 10 and 12. The system allows Class 10 and Class 12 students in schools affiliated to the HPBOSE to appear for their annual exams once a year. Earlier, these examinations were held twice during an academic session.
