HRD Minister releases 8-week alternative calendar for upper primary
NEW DELHI: Minister of human resource development Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has released an ‘alternative academic calendar’ for upper primary -- Classes 6 to 8 -- to help teachers and parents plan students’ education through the lockdown enforced due to COVID-19.
HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said that the calendar contains “detailed guidelines” to achieve the “best possible learning outcomes” while students are at home. The minister had earlier released a 4-week calendar for upper primary. On April 16, the minister had released the alternative calendar for primary students.
Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, through his official social media handle, said: “Alternative Academic Calendar for upper primary stage (Classes 6 to 8) for four weeks was released earlier. I have launched the academic calendar for the next eight weeks today.”
“This Calendar contains detailed guidelines for teachers on the use of technology & social media tools to impart education while the students are at home.The Calendar further aims to empower our students, teachers, school principals and parents with positive ways to deal with COVID-19 via online teaching-learning resources and achieve the best possible learning outcomes,” the minister added.
The alternative academic calendars are prepared by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
