According to the vice-president, India Software Labs, IBM, Gaurav Sharma, “Unlike creating a curriculum for professionals, introducing the subject to school children is different. We have a chance to create a course to give the best effect by using a design-based approach to problem-solving with AI. The program intends to develop a professional learning community for teachers in partnership with the industry. We will ensure it provides collaborative global project opportunities for students and recognizes learning achievements through badging and accreditation.”
Firstly, this course will be launched as a pilot project in some major cities only. Later in the second phase, it will inculcate in the CBSE course. The pilot project was launched in Delhi this Wednesday. 1000 schools were selected from Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Bhubneshwar.
As per Biswajit Saha, CBSE’s training and skill education director, “Participants will develop artificial intelligence (AI) knowledge skills and values through engaging with multimedia online resources as well as hands-on activities and sequencing of learning experiences.”
This program will be introduced in three stages in the following manner:
The first stage includes an orientation workshop for participating school principals where the main focus will be on the significance of AI.
The second stage includes a workshop for teachers, who will be trained to build foundational skills of AI.
In the third and the last stage, there will be the AI-enabled SEWA program for students where IBM experts will reach students of the selected schools, to make them AI-ready.
