NEW DELHI: IGNOU and the Indian Army have renewed the agreement or Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for IGNOU Army Educational Project (IAEP) which provides educational facilities to army personnels through open and distance learning (ODL).

As a collaborative project, the army and IGNOU had joined hands on May 24, 1999 for 5 years and has been extended periodically since then.

The objective of IGNOU Army Education Project (IAEP) is to empower and enhance the educational qualifications of Indian army personnel by providing quality education through Open and Distance Learning (ODL).

IGNOU Army Education Project (IAEP) provides educational facilities to the entire Indian Army on both national and global level using open and distance learning (ODL). The defence personnel and their families can use this academic programme on a single window basis where they can find every feature related to this programme.

The defence personnel who have enrolled in this will not be dislocated from their respective units, except during academic counselling and term end examinations.

There are six Recognized Regional Centres (RSD) of IGNOU which are situated in Kolkata, Chandimandir, Lucknow, Udhampur, Pune and Jaipur. The commanding division in these centres named Regional Services Division (RSD) works to facilitate smooth functioning of RRCs across the country.
