IIM Calcutta to release CAT 2018 answer key in first week of December

NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 29: IIM Calcutta will release the official CAT 2018 answer key in the first week of December 2018. Test takers who appeared for the exam on November 25, 2018, will be able to download the answer key and question papers for both slot 1 and slot 2 from the official website (iimcat.ac.in). Additionally, candidates will get a three-day objection window to voice their complaint pertaining to CAT answers. Prof. Sumanta Basu, CAT 2018 Convenor confirms, "The Concerned authority is working on it. You may expect an announcement in 10 working days." 

The previouss year the answer key was released on December 07, 2018. The answer key will be made available to candidates in the pdf format containing the correct answer to each asked question. In case of any discrepancies, candidates will be allowed to challenge the authority by paying Rs 1000/- against each question. After the proper validation, the final answer key will be released and the fee paid for the valid queries will be refunded to the test takers.

As per the official notification released by IIM Calcutta, CAT 2018 result will be announced in the second week of January 2019. The scorecard will comprise the obtained score and percentile of test takers. IIM will exercise the process of normalisation for calculating the CAT score. Precisely, the actual raw score of candidates will be normalised after considering the factors like difficulty level of exam, marks allocation, location to name a few. Once it is completed, normalisation is then executed for each section to derive at the final score of the test takers.

This year around 2.41 aspirants applied for CAT examination and approximately 2 lakh candidates appeared for the exam across 374 centres located in 147 cities pan India. According to the CAT analysis 2018, the experts are of the opinion that the Quantitative Ability (QA) section was quite difficult this year and as a result, the cutoff might decrease as compared to last year. Test-takers feel QA section can lead to a dip in their result. However, the verbal section was easy and the DILR section was moderate in terms of difficulty.
