IIM Rohtak organises sanitation drive on garbage segregation, cleanliness
IIM Rohtak Sanitation Drive: The event held on September 19 aimed to send message about the need for a clean and healthy environment.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management Rohtak organised a sanitation drive, “Swachhta Pakhwada” promoting Cleanliness in the City. The sanitation drive witnessed the active participation from 200 female students along with Deepika Jain, chairperson of student affairs IIM Rohtak, Akanksha Saxena and staff members of the institute.
The event took place on September 19, 2023, aimed to send the message about the importance of the need for a clean and healthy environment.
The goal of this drive is to encourage practicing efficient management of solid and liquid waste, to promote ecologically safe and sustainable sanitation, to create awareness about garbage segregation and overall cleanliness.
The drive started from Pt Neki Ram Sharma Govt College with enthusiasm and a mind-set driven by change. The theme of the sanitation drive revolved around the creation of awareness on garbage segregation and pledge for cleanliness.
During the drive, IIM Rohtak students engaged in cleaning up trash from 1.5 kms area of Rohtak's streets and alleyways and storing it in garbage bags. Banners exhibiting distinct colours of dustbin and their meanings were displayed by the students and posters on garbage segregation were distributed to indicate the rightful manner in disposing of waste.
IIM Rohtak received support from the Haryana women police force including Rohtak ASP Medha Bhushan who accompanied the students during the drive.
Numerous local establishments such as cafes and eateries offered refreshments to the participants to show support of the campaign on the 1.3 kms stretch of road covered during the drive. Most of the businesses in that region were made aware about proper segregation of garbage. It serves as a testament to the power of collaboration and community involvement in building a cleaner and healthier city.
With key participation in the cleanliness drive, IIM Rohtak students carried out the campaign's objectives, which included raising awareness of garbage segregation and making a substantial beneficial influence on gender and social inclusion.
