IIM Udaipur, SPJIMR Mumbai get AACSB accreditation
NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 26: India’s management education has got a boost with two more B-schools receiving the prestigious AACSB accreditation. IIM Udaipur and S.P Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) Mumbai have now joined the elite band of six AACSB-accredited Indian B-schools, taking the total number to eight. AACSB Accreditation provides a framework of 15 international standards against which business schools around the world assess the quality of their educational services.
Stephanie M. Bryant, Executive Vice President and Chief Accreditation officer of AACSB International, in a press statement, said, “AACSB Accreditation recognizes institutions that have demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development, and student learning.”
AACSB quoted SPJIMR Mumbai’s Dean, Dr. Ranjan Banerjee as saying, “We thank our mentor, the PRT team and the AACSB team for their support through the process. We are on a journey of self-improvement and innovation, and AACSB processes have helped us significantly in moving towards our goals. here has been significant learning for the institute through the accreditation process.”
Janat Shah, Director, IIM Udaipur, in a communication with AACSB said, “From day one, IIMU has been focused on building a globally recognized management institution. AACSB Accreditation, at such an early stage, gives us the confidence to continue to dream big. The first IIM to receive international accreditation from AACSB was IIM Calcutta. Indian private B-schools with AACSB accreditation are IFIM Business School Bangalore, ISB Hyderabad, IMT Ghaziabad, School of Business NMIMS University Mumbai, TAPMI Manipal, XLRI Jamshedpur and SPJIMR Mumbai.
AACSB International also announced on November 26 that the Business School at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, ESCA Ecole de Management, International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics, Macquarie University, National Chung-Hsing University, S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research, the School of Accounting at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Troy University, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, Universidade de Lisboa, and the University of Mary Washington have earned accreditation in business.
As many as 831 institutions across 54 countries and territories maintain AACSB Accreditation. Moreover, 187 institutions maintain a supplemental AACSB Accreditation for their accounting programmes.
