NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 29: Its placement time at IIT Delhi. Witnessing a jump of over 25% in the number of foreign companies coming to IIT Delhi for recruitment, the Training and Placement (T&P) unit of IIT Delhi is expecting a robust hiring season this year.

Recruitment at IIT Delhi will commence from December 1, 2018, and will continue till May 2019. More than 350 organisations from India and abroad are coming on-campus to recruit students. Students graduating in 2018-19 will be having ample choices during the campus placement with over 500 job profiles on offer.

The foreign organisations that will be offering jobs to the IIT Delhi students are mainly from the European region, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, US etc. A rise has been witnessed in the organisations registering to hire students for core engineering profiles i.e. for electrical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, etc. Artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, stochastic modelling and predictive analysis look to be upcoming sectors as industry gears up for Industry 4.0 with an exponential increase in organisations looking for talent with this skill-set. Organisations are also coming up with highly specialised profiles and are looking to recruit PhD scholars.

Prof S. Dharmaraja, Head, Training & Placement Unit, IIT Delhi said, "On behalf of IIT Delhi, we extend a very warm welcome to all the recruiters for the placements and look forward to a mutually rewarding relationship". Anishya Madan, Industry Liaison Officer, (T&P) said, “Initial reaction of the industry has been very positive. We hope this trend continues and translates to good hiring numbers."

Several factors are taken into consideration by IIT Delhi’s T&P unit before starting the placement process. It takes into account the domain of the company as well the job profile being offered, along with departmental and student preference. T&P unit also ensures that all kinds of job profiles get a fair representation in the roster and each and every student gets a chance to be interviewed.

As per the latest ranking produced by French HR Consultancy Emerging and published by the United Kingdom's leading publication Times Higher Education, IIT Delhi has made it to the top 100 list of the Global University Employability Ranking 2018.
