IIT Delhi, Roorkee organise inter-IIT sports meet 2022; all IITs participate

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and Roorkee (IIT-D and IIT-R) are jointly hosting the inter-IIT sports meet 2022. The event will see participation from all IITs from December 14 to 22, 2022.

The event features 12 sporting events, IIT-D will be hosting athletics, badminton, basketball, table tennis, lawn tennis, and chess events while cricket, hockey, football, volleyball, squash, and weightlifting event will take place at IIT Roorkee. The event was inaugurated by former Indian athlete, Gurbachan Singh Randhawa, who was the flag bearer for India at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.

All the participating institutes held a march past event at the inauguration ceremony while IIT-ISM Dhanbad received an award for being the best contingent. This was followed by cultural events.

The students are seen preparing for the inter-IIT sports meet, IIT Bombay tweets: " Meet the IIT Bombay contingent including 162 students along with sports officers, coaches and staff, who are making the Institute proud at the 55th Inter-IIT Sports Meet. Scheduled from Dec 14-22, 2022 at IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee, the Sports Meet had a thrilling kickstart. "

Similarly, IIT Goa used their Twitter handle to share their excitement over the event. "Inter-IIT sports meet is back after a gap of 3 years!! A 100-strong (94 participants and 6 officials) IIT Goa contingent departed this morning for Delhi/Roorkee. Entire IIT Goa family wishes them the very best of the competition!!" read the IIT Goa tweet.
