NEW DELHI, AUGUST 26: IIT Guwahati and Gifu University, Japan have launched three international master's programs for the academic session 2019-20.

The joint programmes include master’s and PhD programmes in food science and technology, and a PhD in integrated mechanical engineering. Additionally, IIT Guwahati has announced a master’s programme in data science.

The international courses will be jointly taught and supervised by faculty members of both institutions. “We believe that the four newly launched programmes will be a trendsetter academically and a game-changer professionally. We look forward to collaborating with top world universities in such unique programmes,” said Prof. T. G. Sitharam, Director, IIT Guwahati.

As part of the agreement, each country will allow four students from the partnering country to study on its soil for six months.

Bilateral mobility between the countries will see Gifu University hosting a ‘Winter School Program’ in December for IIT Guwahati students and IIT Guwahati will reciprocate by hosting a ‘Spring School Program’ in March.

IIT Guwahati will also be hosting a Gifu University symposium from 9-10 October.
