The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) is set to organise PHOTONICS 2026, the 17th International Conference on Fiber Optics and Photonics, from December 9 to 13, 2026.
The conference will be organised in association with the University of Hyderabad (UoH), the Defence Research and Development Organisation's Centre for High Energy Systems and Sciences (DRDO CHESS), and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Hyderabad.
The five-day conference will bring together researchers, industry professionals and young scientists from across the world. They will discuss emerging developments in the field of optics, laser science, fibre optics and photonic technologies.
The IIT Hyderabad conference will give a platform for scientific exchange and collaboration. A post on X by IIT Hyderabad reads, “The conference will feature Nobel Laureate Prof. Donna Strickland among its distinguished speakers, providing a global platform for scientific exchange and collaboration.”
IIT Hyderabad PHOTONICS 2026: Emerging technologies, research collaboration
The conference will encourage interaction between academic researchers, scientists and industry representatives working on photonics-related technologies. Such exchanges will help researchers share findings, explore potential collaborations and discuss how scientific advances can be brought into practical applications.
Photonics involves the generation, manipulation and detection of light and plays an important role in modern communication systems, medical technologies, industrial applications and scientific research. Fibre optics, lasers and optical devices are increasingly relevant to high-speed data transmission, precision measurement and advanced manufacturing.
IIT Hyderabad will provide a platform for young scientists an opportunity to engage with researchers and industry experts. For more details regarding registration, the conference programme, and participation, information will be available through the official event channels. Interested participants can also check the conference's official website, photonics2026.iith.ac.in.
