The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur has started the registration for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2027. As scheduled, the registration started today, and the deadline to apply is October 12. The computer-based test (CBT) exam will be conducted on February 14, 2027, in two sessions. Candidates who pass the exam will be eligible to participate in postgraduate programmes offered by 23 IITs and several other participating institutes.
To apply online, candidates will have to register through the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) by feeding in their name, valid email ID and active mobile number and create a password. Post registration, candidates will get an enrolment ID and OTP/password on their email ID, which can further be used for logging in.

Each paper will be conducted for a total of three hours.

A candidate can appear for one or two test papers. Those opting for two papers can choose only papers scheduled in different sessions.
The examination fee is as follows:

The application fee is non-refundable.
IIT JAM will be conducted in around 114 cities across India.
The brochure states that there are around 3,000 seats in postgraduate programmes at the 23 IITs for the 2027-28 academic year. Four admission rounds are expected to be conducted, with a possible additional round depending on the number of vacant seats.
