NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has announced the start of applications for BS degree in electronic systems programme for the September 2023 batch. Interested candidates can apply by August 27, 2023.

Candidates who have completed Class 12 or equivalent in physics and mathematics can join the programme. The BS degree programme has no age restrictions and is accessible to individuals seeking to upskill and reskill themselves in the field of electronic systems.

The recently launched BS programme in electronic systems has received over 1,800 applications during the first round, which concluded on June 25, 2023. Among these, nearly 1,200 are regular entry candidates and they will undergo a qualifier process which includes a qualifier exam. The qualifier exam is scheduled to take place on August 6, 2023. The remaining applicants have applied through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and are eligible for direct admission to the programme.

The BS programme is aligned with the country's semiconductor mission. Students will be able to learn industry-ready skills, ensuring high employability. The curriculum incorporates in-person labs at IIT Madras, to gain practical experience and a better understanding of electronic systems.

Upon completion of the BS programme in electronic systems, graduates will receive a degree from IIT Madras. The institute also offers multiple exit options, allowing learners at different stages of their educational journey to receive certificates and diplomas.

By the end of the programme, the students will be equipped with skills useful in various sectors, including the automotive, semiconductor, and defense industries. They will be able to work in different roles such as electronic system designers, embedded system developers, electronic hardware specialists, system testing engineers, and electronics research engineers.
